PRESS RELEASE: Rebranding The Eighth Man

The Eighth Man, the leading media outlet serving the quidditch community, today unveiled the intention of creating a new brand identity. The rebranding will include the introduction of a new logo, the launch of new social media sites, the creation of an advertising department and a complete website redesign.

“We’re entering a new era at The Eighth Man,” said Amanda Dallas, editor-in-chief of the site. “Coverage of the sport has grown exponentially since the creation of this website two years ago, and it’s time for us to step up not only our coverage, but our marketing and our brand identity.”

As a website that values the opinions of its readers, The Eighth Man has decided that they should have a say in the future aesthetic of the news site. Graphic designer Walter Makarucha Jr., the man behind the graphics for The Warriors and NYDC Capitalists, has created two logos that he feels properly portray The Eighth Man. In the survey below, we have included the multiple iterations each would be presented in. Please select your favorite and cast your vote by Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014.

The winning logo will debut on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, on The Eighth Man Facebook page, which will also be released that day.

The website redesign, along with the launch of The Eighth Man YouTube channel and Tumblr, will debut on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.

“When we hired Dallas and the rest of our new staff members, our goal was to reinvigorate The Eighth Man,” said Ethan Sturm, managing editor and co-founder of the site. “This rebranding will typify what the site and our staff is now capable of, and I know once it has all been released the community will be just as excited as I am.”

In addition to its design overhaul, The Eighth Man is pleased to announce the creation of our advertising department. We will be selling various sizes of advertisement space, including leaderboard, banner and button sizes, on the front page of www.eighthman.com. You will also be able to purchase sponsorships and endorsements to be aired during our various podcasts. For rate information and size and placement of available space, please contact advertising@eighthman.com.

We thank you for your continued readership. Our goal is to provide you with timely, in-depth analysis of the sport, and we hope to continue satisfying readers for years to come.
