With US Quarantine Cup 13 officially in the books, it’s time to turn our attention to the most fun part of the quidditch calendar: fantasy season. And while quarantine has done its best to ground such enjoyable proceedings to a halt, we here at The Eighth Man intend to push onward.

Over the course of the next two months, we will be running a pair of Fantasy Fantasy tournaments, where the general managers will get to choose teams from far larger pools than would ever be realistic. At the end of the proceedings, without the ability to play the games out, we will have a combination of our analysts and the public vote to decide our winners.

So what are the details of these fantasy tournaments? Let’s dive in.

The All-Timer Tournament
In this format, the entire history of quidditch will be available on the draft boards. General managers will be able to draft any player at the peak of their talents throughout the history of the game, as determined by the voters. When analyzing the teams, it will be assumed that players who have retired in the past will be given a month of training to catch up to the strategies of the modern game. With the athletic prowess we expect on these rosters, that should be plenty of time. The format will be a snake draft, and the order of picking will be determined randomly. A general manager does not automatically have themselves as a player, and they can be chosen by another manager.

General managers will be specifically selected for their widespread knowledge of and deep experience in the sport. If you would like to apply to be a general manager for The All-Timer Tournament, please fill out the form here by Saturday, April 25 at 11:59 pm ET.

The All-Campus Cup
In this format, any player who played quidditch during the USQ Cup 2019-20 season on a college team will be available on draft boards. All players will be considered to be at their current skill levels. Currently graduating seniors are still available in this format. The format will be a snake draft, and the order of picking will be determined randomly. A general manager does not automatically have themselves as a player, and they can be chosen by another manager.

General managers for this tournament must be current college players, and we will be looking for demonstrated widespread knowledge of the college game, specifically across regions.
